A healthy body houses a healthy mind
The school fully believes in this maxim. Hence ample resources have been made available for the physical fitness of the students. Apart from a sprawling campus spread facilities for various sports and games are available in the school. Apart from outdoor games like field events, cricket, football, volleyball, kho-kho, badminton and basket-ball, there are facilities of indoor games like chess, table tennis, and carrom.
The idiom ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ holds true even for the young learners. Sports, whether team-based or individual, are great for children as they provide not just physical exercise but also help build children’s self-esteem, confidence, social skills and motivate them to excel in life. In order to foster the aforesaid school of thought, Delhi Public School Aligarh, Junior Wing organised an event entitled “Kid-Ompics” for the students of Play Group to Class II on 19th December 2108 in the school playground.
During the fun-filled day, the students participated inlarge numbers in the engaging and innovative field events such as Frog Jump Race, Hurdle Race and Three-legged Race, Picking-up the Object, Balloon Bursting, Lemon Race, Ball Balancing Race, Sack Race and Three-legged Race which got the crowd cheering. Towards the end of the event, the students invited their teachers to participate in a special activity ‘Three-legged Race’. It was exhilarating to look at the little ones cheering for their teachers.
The sun was shining, so were our beautiful little munch kins. It was indeed a cold winter morning where in the students got a wonderful opportunity to soak up the sun. The headmistress Ma’am Ms. Bhavana Bhardwaj appreciated the efforts put into making the event successful. She also prompted the students to develop their interest towards sports as it keeps us physically fit and our mind fresh.
