Christmas (24-12-2011)

The birth anniversary of Lord Jesus is celebrated as Christmas. Jesus Christ is the central figure of the Christianity. He is worshipped as an incarnation of God and the “second person of the blessed trinity”. He was born in Bethlehem to Virgin Mary and Joseph. He was a ‘Messiah’ who died sacrificially to achieve atonement, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.
Our school held a special assembly on Christmas on 24th December 2011. It was really special as the tiny tots of Nursery and Prep participated and carried out the whole assembly. Parth of Prep in his beautiful accent gave an introduction about why we celebrate Christmas. Lipi came up with a wonderful thought for the day. The students of Nursery presented a sweet rhyme which was enjoyed by all. Golden words were spoken by the children of Prep to make our life stress free and beautiful. Akash of Prep came dressed as little Santa. An attractive puppet show was presented depicting the story of Jesus’s birth. The popular Christmas Carol ‘Jingle Bell’ was sung by the children of class VI. Last but not the least to complete the proceedings. Santa came and promised to fulfill all the wishes of the children if they promise to be good children. Our little darlings were happy and overjoyed.
Christmas brings with it a message of togetherness and love.
     
   
 
Republic Day (25-01-2012)
India was declared a republic on 26th January 1950. The constitution came into effect after that. Every year, we celebrate this day as Republic Day. This year, we celebrated our 63rd Republic Day. Our national anthem has also turned 100 this year.
Our school held a special assembly on this occasion with great enthusiasm and fervour. Janisha Sachdeva of Class VI compered the whole programme. A heart touching patriotic song was presented by our students. Anuj Rawat of class VI delivered a speech in Hindi and Gunika Mehra of class VI presented a speech in English which was very informative. A beautiful tricolour fusion dance was presented by our children who depicted our national flag in a very attractive manner. The programme ended with the singing of the national anthem. The whole programme was enjoyed thoroughly by everyone present there.
     
   
 
Basant Pachami (27-01-2012)
Basant Panchami - a festival of the Hindus celebrating the arrival of the queen of seasons – Spring, which brings colourful flowers and a pleasant weather. The birthday of Goddess Saraswati is celebrated as Basant Panchami. Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge according to Hindu mythology.
Our school held a special assembly on this pious occasion. The programme started with Saraswati Pujan by our Senior Mistresses, teachers, the Head boy and the Head girl. Kashish Varshney of class III delivered a speech on this occasion giving us information about the festival. Saraswati Vandana was sung by our children. A beautiful and devotional dance was performed, dedicated to the Goddess. It was a beautiful event which was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed it.

Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November every year, as a tribute to our first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji, born on this day in 1889, he had great affection for children and contributed immensely towards their well-being and development.
D.P.S. Junior Wing at Agra Road also celebrated this day in a very special way. The teachers conducted the morning assembly by enacting as children. They also presented a cultural programme which the children enjoyed with full vigour and zeal. After the assembly the children had a class party and had a gala time with their friends and teachers.
     
 
 
Guru Nanak Jayanti(9th November)

Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated on the birthday of Guru Nanak, the first Guru of the Sikhs. He was the founder of Sikhism, who believed that God is one and Omnipresent.
                                                                           
Our school held a special assembly on this occasion. Fatima Hasan compered the whole programme. Aryan Sharma presented a pious thought to begin our day. Aditya put forward some G.K questions related to Guru Nanak which focused on his life and teachings for the common people. Last but not the least, a very informative speech was presented by our Deepa Ma’am who highlighted on Guru Nanak’s life, achievements ant teachings.

Guru Nanak was a true and honest person by heart. He was a Guru in true sense of the term.

 
 
Diwali (24th October 2011)
Diwali- ‘A festival of lights’ is celebrated to commemorate the homecoming of Lord Rama after fourteen years of exile. It also marks the defeat of evil ie; Ravana by good ie; Rama.Diwali brings peace, joy and prosperity to everybody’s life.
On this auspicious occasion, a special assembly was held in our school in which the kids of Playgroup, Nursery and Prep participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The children of Playgroup dressed up beautifully as Diya, Candles and Crackers and gave us a message that Diwali brings happiness and enjoyment. They also sang melodious songs and poems and made us feel the magic of this festival. The children of Nursery welcomed Diwali by singing a sweet rhyme on Diwali. The students of Prep also made their contribution in celebrating this pious festival. They presented a rhyme and  the story of Lord Rama through a mesmerizing Puppet Show. It depicted the life of Lord Rama in a very beautiful and entertaining manner. The students also came forward with an important message by displaying placards in their hands. The placards displayed as how to celebrate a safe and joyful Diwali and also less use of crackers so that we can save our environment from pollution. The assembly ended by a beautiful dance display by Shrikant Pandit of Prep.

Independence Day, the day India got freedom from Britishers.

The tri coloured decoration in the school had made the whole environment filled with the air of patriotism.
Special assembly was held on 11th August to celebrate this special occasion of freedom of all Indians. It started with a speech by Kanupriya Narayan in English. Radhika Mehra delivered a speech in Hindi where they shared their views about how India got free and what we are suppose to do to keep our freedom intact. A foot tapping song- 'Nanha Munna Rahi Hun' was presented by students of class II.
The students of Asha Kiran presented a patriotic dance. Last but not the least, the programme came to an end with a speech delivered by Anshika Rana, in which she shared the view on Independence Day.

     
 
Janmashtami 

A special assembly was held on the pious and holy eve of Janmashtami. Gesha Shikarwar anchored the programme. Samriddhi Singh delivered a speech depicting the life of Lord Krishna. A colourful dance drama was presented by the children depicting the childhood of Lord Krishna. Tiny tots of playgroup presented themselves, dressed as Radha and Krishna. Shrikant Pandit presented a musical dance dressed as Lord Krishna.

     
 
 
Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan, a celebration of love between a brother and a sister is much awaited by everyone. On this pious ocassion a special assembly was held by the students of class II. Children dressed in colourful attires presented the beautiful assembly.
The programme started with a melodious 'Bhajan' by Abhyudita. The G.K questions and interesting facts were based on Raksha Bandhan which was listened and answered with much interest. Ansh asked some G.K questions and Nikhil presented the interesting facts. Yogendra played a sweet tune on the piano. A speech was delivered by Arjun which highlighted the importance of the festival. A dance was presented by the children depicting the piousness and love that this festival imbibes. Raksha Bandhan is a festival of love, where sisters tie 'rakhi' on their brother's wrist and the brother promises life long love and security to them.

     
 
 
Sanskrit Diwas

Sanskrit, the oldest and ancient language of India is the mother of every Indian language. Sanskrit Diwas was celebrated to mark the importance of Sanskrit as an important language.
The students of class V and VI presented the assembly in Sanskrit. Anushka Agarwal managed the whole programme. The assembly started with 'Matribhumi Vandana' by the students which was very inspiring. Shloks in Sanskrit were recited which added to the effect. Achal Bhutia asked a few 'pahelies' in Sanskrit. Asim and Vanshika presented a translation from Sanskrit to Hindi. Asim spoke the sentences in Sanskrit and Vanshika translated it into Hindi line to line.

The programmer winded up with tips of how to improve Sanskrit and importance of Sanskrit. Revival of Sanskrit as an important language was stressed by him. This celebration brought into light the language which is diminishing.
