Co-Curriculum

School activities play a significant role in the holistic development of students. Co-curricular activities are the application part of skills learned and achieved during academic activities. It enhances our social skills, intellectual skills, collaborative skills etc.

At DPS Aligarh, we settle for student initiated activities that encompasses everything possible under the sun. The range of activities offered include

Art and Craft- The vibrancy of the colours and the intricate and minute evolvement of creative initiatives seem to paint the wall of the Art Gallery. Students throng the very premises of the Art Gallery to relish upon the feast of colours and patterns. Inter House and Intra House activities are a common sight every Wednesday.

Music and Dance- Nothing soothes the wary soul more than music and nothing inspires the soul greater than music. The faculty entrusted with the sublimity of music and dance has always managed to inspire a few souls to produce Musicians and Dancers, lime lighted at every event. Apart from the School activities the students have also held the school flag high at different Inter DPS events as well as Inter School Events at both state and national level.

Theatrics and Public Speaking - Regular activities like Extempore, Speech, Debate, One act plays etc have added to the grandeur of multi Lingual character of the schools. The Language Dept remains at its toes to sharpen the oratory and acting skills of the students. These activities have also rendered in the development of presentation skill.

  • SPIC MACAY ORIENTATION : PADMSHRI DR.KIRAN SETH
  • Delhi Public School Aligarh was  elated to treasure the arrival of Spic Macay's founder Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Kiran Seth on October 10, 2022. He is on his Solo Cycle Yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari which began on August 15, 2022 from Srinagar and which will conclude at Kanyakumari by January 31, 2023. In each city, big or small, he stopped and visited educational institutions to talk to students about our composite heritage and other topics like environment and culture!

    The four objectives of this yatra are:

    • To celebrate India’s ‘composite heritage’ and culture.
    • To promote cycling for ‘good health and clean environment’.
    • To spread Mahatma Gandhi's message of ‘simple living and high thinking’.
    • To induct more volunteers into the SPIC MACAY movement.

    The Principals of 12 reputed schools along with distinct personalities of Aligarh,the active members of Spic MaCay attended the orientation and conceptualization of its modules ,which was  followed by Press meet.There were melodious renditions which touched the chords of each and everyone's hearts presented by the students.Principal Arti Jha, welcomed him and addressed the cause and impact of Spic Macay's initiative enlightening the gathering about the composite cultural heritage and glory of our country.The event concluded by a soulful song by Johnny Foster Sir which explained the significance of unity and integrity .

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON JANMASHTAMI 2022-23
  • A special assembly was conducted by Ravi House on the occasion of Janamashtami, a festival which commemorates the earthly arrival of Lord Krishna. A melodious bhajan was presented by School Choir that added solemnity to the occasion.Little girls dressed as gopis, Radha and Lord Krishna did the raas leela to a beautiful song.The assembly concluded with a message from Regarded Principal Ms.Arti Jha, who elucidated the significance of Janamashtami festival. She encouraged the young minds to be कर्मयोगी by quoting the famous quote of Holy book Bhagvad Geeta कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन। मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि

    She further said that this festival is the symbol of goodwill and togetherness thereby wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Janmashtami.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON RAKSHA BANDHAN & INDEPENDENCE DAY 2022-23
  • “Friends change. Lovers leave. Siblings are eternal”

    A brother and sister’s relationship is one that lasts a lifetime and is characterised by enduring memories. Despite their adorable quarrels, they always support, cheer, and stand by one another. Love and trust keep the seesaw of a sibling relationship in check.On this note Ganga House conducted a special assembly for Raksha Bandhan on August 10, 2022. The performance opened with a thought for the day and the top news stories, which were then followed by a beautiful rendition by school choir and a brilliant dance with the magical rhythm of footsteps by the students from classes 5 and 6 ,to honour the essence of the sibling bond .It was a mixed assembly for both Rakshabandhan and Independence day.

    After Raksha bandhan celebrations ,there was an enthralling dance performance on a melodious patriotic track .The entire ambience of School premises was filled with the colour of patriotism. The tricolour waving in the air was an enchanting view to watch. The assembly concluded by the respected Principal’s address who explained the significance of tying “Rakhi” on brothers’ hands and explained the meaning of this Festival. She also motivated our young learners to take the responsibility to develop our country and do even tiniest bit everyday to make our country shine brighter. Moreover She instilled the true essence of Patriotism in the hearts and minds of the students that ended with slogans of Jai Hind and Vande Matram.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON FRENCH DAY 2022-23
  • “Let's hold the head high, like the birds, fly in the open sky. Bonne Fete Nationale!”

    French Bastille Day, also known as France’s National Day, is celebrated every year on July 14.On this day Chenab house organised special assembly in premises of DPS Aligarh. Special assembly undoubtedly holds a significant position out of all the routine activities in school. The assembly was commenced with morning prayer followed by compering done by students in French only. Students also shared latest updates and interesting facts with children present in assembly ground.

    Musical performance was given by student in French only which left the audience in awe with him. The assembly came to its finale with the students performing energetic French dance. The Principal addressed the gathering with the encouraging words of wisdom. The assembly culminated with the rendition of the National Anthem. It was once again proved that when students and teachers work together they surely create masterpieces.

  • INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2022-23
  • “Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim, the better your practice, the brighter the flame..”

    International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits of Yoga in daily life. For creating awareness among our students, DPS Aligarh organized a yoga session in which the simple and easy aasanas that could be done easily by children, were demonstrated, also it’s importance was explained to them.

    One may reap numerous benefits for health, mind and soul, by performing yoga aasanas. It makes your body flexible,mind thoughtful and energizes the soul.Thus,Yoga brings balance between body, soul and mind. Respected Principal Arti Jha, addressed the learners and motivated the young minds to include yoga, even for 10 minutes, in their daily schedule as she quoted "Yoga makes you harmonious with nature and teaches you to be joyfully curious about your inner world."

    “Yoga for Humanity” is the theme for International Day of Yoga this year. So let’s value it and perform it and contribute our bit to humanity.

  • SUMMER CAMP 2022-23
  • “Summer is filled with breaking rules & standing apart, ignoring your head and following your heart.”

    This year in 2022-2023, our children got an opportunity to join Summer Camp – The Quest in Pavna International School.

    The Quest aimed at keeping the students engaged & provided them an even platform to explore and express their creativity, in any form. They not only made memories while having fun but they were able to face their fears, try new things, pushed their boundaries and realized self-sufficiency. They were able to make new friends amidst lot of laughs & learnt team spirit.

    Every activity worth doing has a learning curve.

    Following were the activities taken up by the students in the camp under professional guidance and experts in the respective fields :

    • 1. Sculpture making: Students tried their hands on it and learnt the basics of sculpting
    • 2. Cooking without fire: Everyone can cook and without fire is a boon for kids. Kids enjoyed making different dishes.
    • 3. Industrial designing: Students learnt the use of machine on rough surface of wood, to make it soft. They learnt to cut wood with jigsaw machine.
    • 4. School tour: Students took a tour and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the premises.
    • 5. Dance: Students love dancing and enjoyed a bit more.
    • 6. Drama: Students were informed about the basics and explained about the perspective of doing or watching or creating drama.
    • 7. Team building activity: Team-building games and activities are a fun way to help students learn to work together, listen carefully, communicate clearly, and think creatively. They also give students the chance to get to know each other, build trust as a community and, best of all, have fun!

    All the activities were taken up by the students, diligently and zealously. Not only they had fun but also they were exposed to different concepts, which would help each kid for an overall development of their personality.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON MOTHER’S DAY & WORLD RED CROSS DAY 2022-23
  • To mark the auspicious occasion of Mothers' day and Red Cross day, a special assembly was conducted by Jhelum house on 6 th May, 2022, Friday to make students understand the significance of mother’s day as it celebrates the existence of mothers and appreciates all they do for their children as well as to tell importance of the red cross day as it celebrates the spirit of the volunteers to provide medical help to everyone without any discrimination.

    Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate everything that our moms mean to us. While it’s not the only occasion we honor our mothers, it is one that lets the most important woman in our lives know just how greatly she is appreciated. A mother’s love is a beautiful thing that can’t be captured in just one word and the people who volunteer to work for the benefit of the people in distress are the most inspiring people of all.

    The assembly was hosted by Ms. Chetanya and Master Puneet. The assembly began with the inspiring thought by Dhratika emphasizing on Mother's day, which celebrates the bond of love and affection between a mother and a child that is everlasting. The news headlines for the day was presented by Agrima Saraswat. A beautiful poem was recited by Manya Arora which was again dedicated to mothers. The group of students presented a melodious song and a beautiful dance performance which really made everyone think about how special is the existence of a Mother and how much they depend on her and need her in their lives. Students of Class VI also presented a Nukkad Natak displaying the importance of first aid as well as blood donation, one donation from us can save the lives of up to 3 people in danger.

    The assembly was concluded with the address by Principal Madam, where she spoke about the importance of our mother’s in our life. Mothers are God's unique gift to children and the world celebrates the supreme sacrifices made by mothers for their children. She also emphasized on the importance of first aid and blood donation as well. And said that we should pay tribute to members and volunteers of the organisation who contribute to humanitarian work.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON EARTH DAY 2022-23
  • “Preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, it’s the only home we’ve ever known.!”

    A special assembly on Earth Day was organised by Ravi House on 22nd April, Friday, to propel fellow students to feel a greater sense of responsibility about protecting our planet.

    Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22. On this day, events are held worldwide to show support for environmental protection. Earth Day reminds us to be loving and caring towards our Earth. It creates an awareness about sustainable way of using our resources and in turn making our environment healthy.The theme of this year’s Earth Day is “Invest In Our Planet”. We can achieve that by acting (boldly), innovating (broadly), and implementing (equitably).

    The leading hosts for the day were Ms.Pavni and Ms.Maryam.The assembly started with a beautiful thought by Yashvi,with an insight that Our planet is more important than the wealth in our banks followed by news headlines by Pratishtha.A beautiful poem recited by Tanmay, written by ParshuramShukla made everyone introspect themselves and shared a glimpse of the benefits that our nature provides us, without any discrimination and a gentle reminder to contribute our bit to its well-being.

    Taking our traditional culture in their hearts and minds, TheDance grouppresented a mesmerizing performance inodissi dance form with the symphony of our environment. Towards the end, there was a felicitation ceremony in which the House Incharge of Ravi house, presented HonorablePrincipal with a sapling to create awareness about planting more trees to make our earth, a better place than today to live in.

    The special assembly concluded with respected Principal’s Aarti Jha address, where she spoke about compensating the actions that harms our environment, rather than banning all the advanced gadgets that we use. Furthermore She stressed on the three R’s –Reduce, Reuse, and recycle. It was an awe-inspiring special assembly.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON MAHAVIR JAYANTI 2022-23
  • The Birth Anniversary of Lord Mahavira Swamy, the 24 th Tirthankar Prophet of jains, was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm on 13 April 2022 in Delhi Public School Aligarh. A special House Assembly was organized by the teachers and the students of ‘Ganga House’ where all the students learnt about the life and noble teachings of Lord Mahavira. The assembly was started with a beautiful morning prayer to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. Assembly was enriched with a beautiful thought, a new word, News Headlines, dance, and a melodious poem which was recited by Navya Jain, student of class IX. A virtue was delivered by Brahmi Jain , student of class X in which she highlighted the whole life cycle, morals and teachings of Bhagwan Mahavira Swamy.

    The Academic Co ordinator of the school, Mr. Intizar Ahmad concluded the assembly by addressing the gathering of students and teachers. He congratulated all the teachers and the students and appreciated a lot the efforts of the students. He asked them to inculcate the teachings and values of Mahavira Swamy in their daily life.

  • SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON WORLD HEALTH DAY 2022-23
  • “Health is like money we never have a true idea of it’s value until we lose it”

    World health day is celebrated  on 7th March every year to make people aware about the importance of health so that they can cherish a healthy and happy life.On world health day a special assembly was organised in DPS Aligarh by Chenab house. The assembly was begun with a beautiful thought emphasising value of healthy lifestyle in today’s age .Few interesting facts were also told by students which left audience amazed. Daily news followed by virtue was also a part of the special assembly.The wonderful assembly was culminated by a short but meaningful dance presentation through which students have shown that health workers are warriors n true life saviours.

    Principal ma’am Arti Jha also threw some light on significance of well being and also enriched students-about practices which should be followed  to lead a healthy n disease free lifestyle .
